Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University`s Botanical Garden

Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University`s Botanical Garden is one of the oldest botanical gardens in Ukraine. It was founded in XIX century, when Bukovina was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. All plants and trees was brought from Austria. But in 1918, when Chernivtsi was subject to Romania, mostly local plants was planted there. In Soviet times, garden was given to Chernivtsi National University. There are many units in the garden now: tropical and subtropical plants, dendrology, grasses etc. Garden has own laboratory and herbarium. There are about 920 types of different tropical plants in local greenhouse. The best idea is to visit Botanical Garden in spring, when sun comes out, air is full of tender flower`s scent and everything is green. You can enjoy the blossom of magnolia, tulips, lilies of the valley and other flowers.
